The weather gods served up yet another pretty three days of sailing off Montego Bay, Jamaica for the annual Jamin Jamaica Regatta. Hosted by Montego Bay Yacht Club, the fleet of nine J/22s enjoyed a total of nine races. As usual, the fleet also enjoyed the Saturday evening cocktail party and dinner. This year’s event saw the tightest competition ever for the top of the leaderboard. It all came down to a tie-breaker on 13 points each for last year’s winner Mike Farrington (Cayman Islands) and a newcomer to the regatta Allie Cribbs (Galveston Bay, Texas). In the countback calculation, it was Farrington’s team on DEFENDER who won with six first places in his scoreline. Cribbs’ RENEGADE ended up in second place counting all firsts and seconds in her scoreline. Rounding out the podium was Johan Koppernaes’ Nova Scotia, Canada team on TSUNAMI with 22 points net. Completing the top five were Steven Cooke’s GERONIMO in fourth place with 33 points and Bruce Johnson’s Cayman Islands team on OPEN WATER taking fifth.
