The J/22 German National Championship was held in Travemunde and dominated by a French crew. Sailing eight races over three days on the southern part of the Baltic Sea, it was Reiner & Felix Brockerhoff’s FRA 1444, with crew of Christoph DeClerque that took the title with a record of seven firsts and one second, dropping the second in the one discard series to score just 7 points net. Behind their dominating performance, it was a battle for the balance of the podium. In the end, winning the official title of German J/22 National Champion was Wolf Jeschonnek’s GER 1513, with crew of Frank Sturm and Steffen Dulsen. Their team started strongly with a 1-2-2-2 in the first four races to hang on for their coveted German J/22 title. Taking third in the regatta and second in the German Nationals was Thorsten Spotter’s GER 1449 with crew of Florian Buchs and Hannes Ranke. Taking the bronze was Holger Schmitt’s GER 1390 with a team of Anna Lisa Schorn and Thomas Hanf. For more Travemunde Week sailing information, visit https://www.travemuender-woche.com/.
